Charge to net target

Standard US commercial rates are around 2.99% + $0.49 (domestic) and higher for international or currency conversion. Rates change — treat this as an estimate.

The "charge to net" trick

Business sellers often want to receive a fixed amount after fees. With a fee of rate r and fixed f on gross g, net = g − g·r − f, so the gross that nets target t is t + f over (1 − r). The calculator shows this whenever you set a target net.

Frequently asked questions

How much does PayPal charge per transaction?

For US commercial or business payments, around 2.99% plus a small fixed fee. International payments and currency conversions cost more.

Can I charge the fee to the customer?

Passing the fee to buyers is against PayPal's merchant terms in most cases. Build the fee into your price instead using the calculator's net-target feature.
