Find the sale price: original × (1 − discount). $80 at 20% off is $64. Recover the original: if a $64 price tag is showing 20% off, the original was $64 ÷ 0.8 = $80 — useful for spotting how genuine a "deal" was.
Subtract the discount as a decimal from 1 and multiply by the original. 20% off means multiply by 0.80.
Divide the discounted price by (1 − the discount as a decimal). $64 ÷ 0.80 = $80.
